Stages of Stardom: Hayden Panettiere

    Hayden Leslie Panettiere was born on August 21, 1989. She began modeling at four months and did her first commercial at 11 months for Playskool. From there Hayden appeared on two different soaps like her mom. She played Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live from 1994-1997, and Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light from 1996-2000. Here she is at the 25th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in May 15, 1998.

    Hayden went on to play small roles in several movies and provide the voice for Dot in the animated film 'A Bug's Life.' In 2000, at age 11, Hayden played Sheryl Yoast in the movie 'Remember the Titans.' For this role she was nominated for several awards and received much praise. In 2001, Hayden played Maddie Harrington in several episodes of the hit TV show 'Ally McBeal.'

    Hayden continued to act and appeared in other movies and did guest roles on TV shows. Here she enjoys some cotton candy at the Scooby-Doo DVD Launch Event 'Escape From Spooky Island' on Roosevelt Island in New York City in October 2002.

    In 2003 Hayden appeared in the HBO film 'Normal' with co-stars Tom Wilkinson and Joe Sikora. She also went on to play Jessica in the hit TV show 'Malcolm in the Middle' for two years.

    In 2004 Hayden continued to do both TV and movies. She was in both 'Raising Helen' with Kate Hudson and 'The Dust Factory' about the love and friendship between two teenagers who help each other through a difficult time in their lives.

    In 2005 Hayden was in another Disney movie called 'Ice Princess' with Michelle Trachtenberg and Kim Cattrall. She played a competitive figure skater named Gennifer and did much of her own skating in the movie. Here she is with co-stars Kim Cattrall and Trevor Blumas.


    Also in 2005, Hayden took on the role of Channing Walsh in the movie 'Racing Stripes' about a girl who trains a zebra to be a racer.

    In 2006 Hayden appeared in the third cheerleader movie for the 'Bring It On' franchise. The straight-to-DVD movie did very well and set the stage for what would be the role that made Hayden a household name. It was this year that she also became the spokesperson for Neutrogena.

    In 2006, the cheerleading experience came in handy as Hayden took on the role of Claire Bennet in the NBC show 'Heroes.' Her character has the power of rapid cellular regeneration. She often gets hurt but is healed right away. Claire, sometimes known as the cheerleader, was one of the big story lines for the first season of the show. The show was very popular had a dedicated fan base.

    'Heroes' went on to gain a lot of acclaim and was nominated for several awards. Hayden also took home several Teen Choice Awards for her role the show. Here's Hayden at the 2007 World Talent Style Lounge held before the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards in January 14, 2007.
