After a dream summer vacation that took them to London, Paris, Rome and more, the Obama girls are probably already looking forward to their next one.

But come Summer 2010, that could change because President Barack Obama has a plan to "rethink the school day to incorporate more time."

President Obama was the first to admit his idea to expand the school day would not be a "wildly popular" one. Especially within his own family. "But the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom," he told the nation in a speech earlier this year. "We can no longer afford an academic calendar designed for when America was a nation of farmers who needed their children at home plowing their land at the end of each day. It may have once made sense, but today it puts us at a competitive disadvantage."

Students in South Korea go to school for a whole month longer than in the United States. And research has shown that adding even ten minutes to a math lesson has made a positive impact on test scores.%Poll-35127%
