Teens Charged For Allegedly Setting Boy on Fire

Five teens were charged on Tuesday for allegedly dousing 15-year-old Michael Brewer with rubbing alcohol and setting him on fire in Deerfield Beach, Florida. According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred after Michael allegedly argued with the boys over money owed for a video game, and prevented one of them from stealing his father's bike.

Michael suffered burns on over 65 percent of his body and remains in intensive care. Fifteen-year-olds Matthew Bent, Denver Jarvis, Steven Shelton and Jesus Mendez and 13-year-old Jeremy Jarvis all face serious charges, and may be tried as adults.

According Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistics, youth violence is the second leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 10 and 24.
