You know that TV commercial where the neighborhood kids are all glumly trick-or-treating, until one kid pulls off his vampire teeth to announce, "the 'so-and-so's' have Butterfingers!" And suddenly, the entire bunch of werewolves and pirates are high-tailing it over to the so-and-so's house?
Well, that got us to thinking. What is THE hot Halloween candy?
An afternoon hanging around the local Target in New York, where teens were stocking up on their Halloween goods gave us our answer: not even close.
In fact, though they were on sale at a "Target creepy, low price" along with Kit-Kats, Starburst, Reese's, Snickers, and Skittles...the bags of mini Butterfingers happened to be the only ones left on the shelves.
"Out of all of those candies, they're not my favorite," Alissa L., 13, told JSYK. "Even though the candy's not for me, I like to give out stuff I like. We usually give out some Hershey minis and some Skittles. We put, like, hundreds into a huge bowl and let kids take a handful. I wish I could give out Reese's – that's my favorite! But my brother is allergic to peanuts."
Brandon G., 16, is a Skittles freak. "We always give Skittles," Brandon says. "Every single year. Not the mini kind, either. The big packs. We give one big pack of Skittles to every kid. And if there's ever any left over – yeah, right – then that's cool because I love Skittles."
Cynthia S., 16, said her and her brothers freaked last year when her parents bought a large tub of Halloween-themed pretzels from Costco to give to trick-or-treaters. "Omigod! It was so embarrassing!" she said. "None of us wanted to stay home and give them out! I was begging my father to please buy something else to give out, too! But he didn't. It sucked."%Poll-36284%
