Miley Cyrus surprised Iowa cheer team, The Sparkles by inviting them to her recent concert stop in Indiana, reports Just Jared Jr.
The cheer squad, comprised of developmentally challenged tweens, appeared on Tuesday's broadcast of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
"You guys are so awesome," Miley said to the Sparkles via satellite. "I just want to thank you personally for all the good that you have done."
The cheerleaders packed their bags and arrived at the concert, only to be surprised by Miley herself! The 17-year-old star hung out with the Iowa girls backstage, and gave them "Hoedown Throwdown" lessons, while the Sparkles taught Miley one of their cheers. On top of personally presenting the girls VIP tickets to her show, Miley also invited the entire cheer team to sing along with her on stage as she performed 'The Climb.'
"These girls are heroes to me," she told the audience.
Pleasant Valley High School varsity cheerleaders Sarah Herr, 17, and Sarah Cronk, 16, founded the Sparkles cheer team after volunteering for the Iowa Spring Special Olympics. The teens were inspired to do something "more permanent," so they developed the cheer team, which has had a profound effect on its special needs cheerleaders.
