Apple fans and techies are psyched on the rumors that Apple Inc. is set to unveil a new wireless tablet device. The gadget, which experts have already coined as the "iTablet" or "iSlate," is expected to be able to hold music, movies, books and other media.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the new device will have a 10-inch to 11-inch touch screen, which is not as big as the MacBook's screen, but larger than the iPhone's. Gizmodo projects its cost to be anywhere from $700 - $900, not including a wireless plan.
The Apple tablet is also expected to be available on a variety of networks, not just AT&T, reports ComputerWorld. "The tablet will be supported by multiple [mobile] carriers," Brian Marshall of Broadpoint AmTech told the website. "Verizon and others. Definitely Verizon. I've been told that's a certainty."
The Wall Street Journal says that Apple will make its official announcement about the tablet this month and begin shipping the product as soon as March.
