With movies like Avatar and Alice in Wonderland, 3-D technology is wowing audiences at the theater level. And guess what? You'll soon you'll be able to watch television in 3-D, too.
This week, ESPN announced that they will be launching ESPN 3D in June, which will broadcast 85 sporting events in its first year. In addition, Discovery announced that it will launch a 3-D channel in conjunction with Sony and IMAX in 2011.
LG Electronics also said it will unveil its first line of 3-D-capable flat screen TVs for the U.S. in May. That's only four months away! Prices for the new LG TV haven't been set yet, but Tim Alessi, director of product development at LG Electronics USA, said they'll probably cost about $200 to $300 more than regular flat panels.
More details will be outlined in the coming months, and competitive 3-D sets from Sony, Panasonic, Mitsubishi and JVC are also reportedly coming out this year, but the bottom line is that 3-D TV will be a reality this summer.
