The wait for a new The Vampire Diaries episode is almost over for the show's enormous fan base. And guess what? We have a juicy secret about what's in store for Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley).

Airing January 21 at 8PM EST on the CW, "Bloodlines" is filled with many firsts: It's the first new episode since the show's break, it's the first time an episode isn't set in Mystic Falls, and it's the first time we learn why Stefan came back to town. That's right! "Bloodlines" will finally start to put the mysterious pieces surrounding Stefan together.

"One little surprise for the audience that comes near the end of the episode is that we finally learn the real reason that Stefan was in Mystic Falls, and how he came to be in town, and how he came to meet her at the doorway to the boy's bathroom in the high school," the show's executive producer Julie Plec explains. "It's a nice callback to the beginning of their relationship and it's good stuff."
