The supernatural craze is showing no signs of stopping and movie studios are on the hunt to find the next Twilight series.
With that goal in mind, Unique Features has purchased the movie rights to Shiver and Variety reports that Nick Pustay will bring the novel to the big screen.
Shiver is the first book in a planned trilogy by author Maggie Stiefvater. It tells the story of Grace, a teenage girl, and her boyfriend Sam. But their romance faces a seemingly insurmountable obstacle: Each winter Sam turns into a werewolf when the weather gets colder. The next installment in the series, Linger, will hit bookshelves this August.
"At the core is this heartbreaking love story between two people who know that their time together is slipping away," says Nick, who also adapted Ramona and Beezus. Since Selena Gomez stars in Ramona, we wonder: Could Nick have Selena in mind for Grace's role when he's writing Shiver? And maybe they could tap Taylor Lautner for the part of the werewolf, he definitely has the experience for it.
It seems like Disney stars are looking to these types of projects to segue from TV to movies. Miley Cyrus has already signed on to star in Wings, April Pike's novel about a girl who suddenly realizes she is a fairy.
