'Avatar' Will Land on DVD This Earth Day
It's no coincidence that Avatar will be available on DVD starting April 22 aka Earth Day. The movie's director, James Cameron, tells The Wall Street Journal, "We're not going to bequeath to our children a world that's a sustainable world at the rate that we're going. It's gonna take a fundamental reboot of the way we view our relationship with the natural world and each other and with business and with the economy."
A date isn't confirmed yet, but another version of the DVD will be released with additional special features and possibly in 3-D in later months. And if you crave even more Avatar after that, there still remains the possibility of a sequel. Cameron says that he'd do a cheaper and faster follow-up to the record setting film. It would be "a continuation of the same characters," he reveals. While James Cameron is dedicated to passing down a legacy of valuing and protecting Earth's natural resources, he tells MTV that he really could care less about winning an Oscar for the blockbuster hit. "I already got my statues. I don't feel greedy or needy in that way."
