'American Idol' Keeps Contestants' Tweets Under Wrap

Michelle Delamor, Haeley Vaughn, John Park, and Jermaine Sellers are the latest music contract hopefuls voted off American Idol, but there is one perk to that: They can tweet and update their own Facebook statuses all they want.

This week, all of the season nine contestants posted the same message on their AI Twitter accounts thanking fans and informing them that they'll be using one collective Twitter page, @AI9Contestants, going forward. The same happened on Facebook. Did producers call off the social networking party because some contestants had way more followers and fans than others? That could hint at who will stick around for weeks to come and who's in danger of getting the boot.

Fox isn't providing any reasoning, but they did update the AI site to say, "Season 9 contestants are now giving fans an inside look at their daily activities and moods with status updates on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Better yet, now they're all added to each group page!"
As the number of guys and girls continues to dwindle, former Idol contestants Scott MacIntyre and Matt Giraud return next week to perform Billy Joel's "Tell Her About It" on the results show.
