While filming the final season of Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus and her dad surprised their audience – comprised of dozens of military families – by asking them to participate in a concert scene for the show.
That was the memory of a lifetime for Miley's biggest fans, but an even more special moment happened when the kids taped messages to send to their parents who are serving overseas.
"It's going to be a satellite thing where the troops can see their kids," Miley tells People Magazine. "It's really cool that they're having the opportunity to say hi to a mom or dad they haven't seen in a long time. I think that's the coolest thing."
After a trip to Afghanistan and Iraq last December, Billy Ray Cyrus was inspired to work with the show's writers to find a way to thank the troops for all of their sacrifices and service to our country.
"My dad has always been super involved with the troops, so [the producers] always try to find things that are close to our hearts and that we're really involved in," Miley says.
