Kellan Lutz is a god, or at least he will be. The Twilight star has been cast as Poseidon in the newest Greek mythology film War of the Gods.
The movie is set in ancient Greece and focuses on the young warrior prince Theseus, who leads his mortal soldiers in an massive battle. The war pits Greek gods against demons and evil Titans, which results in some serious sword-and-sandal action.
Kellan will play Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea, who is one of the most important gods in Greek mythology. Just like in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Poseidon carries a golden trident, so you'll know exactly who Kellan is by this identifiable symbol.
The fantasy role also won't be too much of a stretch for the 25-year-old North Dakota native -- he's used to playing the immortal Emmett Cullen in the Twilight series, and is in perfect shape for the physical part. We know that the war will be a huge part of the movie (it's in the title, after all), so all that time Kellan spends working out will definitely come in handy.
War of the Gods is just the latest movie to tackle the Hollywood's latest obsession with Greek mythology. The first installment of the Percy Jackson series hit theaters in February and the epic Clash of the Titans is due in theaters next month. But according to Variety, War of the Gods won't begin production until the end of the year. By the time it is released in theaters, will audiences jbe over the Greek god craze? We'll have to wait and see. %Poll-43347%
