As you may know, Kristen Stewart will be starring in a new film called An American Girl, and in an interview with WGRZ-TV, director and producer James Woods reveals more details about the Twilight star's dramatic role.
"[It's] about a young woman Marine who serves her duty in Iraq and is wounded and learns some great lessons in the Marines that change her life, even though she pays the price," he says. "...I'm kind of proud to say it's a movie that honors people who've stayed in harm's way for the values that we all share in America."
James was recently in Buffalo searching for filming locations for the movie. He says he chose the New York town because it's the "heartland of America." The release date for the film is still up in the air, but James says he hopes to complete filming by the end of the year so that it can be submitted for next year's Oscars.
"Kristen does the Twilight series, as you know, and she's got some serious obligations for the next installment of Twilight, so we've got a window," he says of the project's time line. "That's an important window that we have to fill."
What do you think of the premise of An American Girl? Does it sound like something you would want to see or does the description already bore you? We think it could be a challenging role for Kristen, and something completely different than what's she's done in the past, but it might just be too heavy for us to handle. However, until we see a trailer we won't be able to call it either way.
