Shannon Reilly's real-life story sounds a lot like Payson Keeler on Make It or Break It. Shannon, 13, loved gymnastics and one day she did a routine double back flip. Except this time she heard a pop when she landed.

"I had fallen before," Shannon says. "I didn't think it was going to be anything big."

Shannon had broken her neck in two places and couldn't move her arms or legs. Doctors said there was a 99 percent chance that Shannon would be paralyzed. Or worse. Shannon could have died from her injuries.

Thankfully, Shannon's story has a miraculous ending. Six screws and two rods later, doctors had Shannon up and walking around again in days. After only one week, she was already headed home, totally skipping out any physical therapy.
Unlike Payson, Shannon won't ever be able to compete in sports again, but that's not bringing her down. This Texas teen is simply grateful to be able to do normal things, like walk around a mall with her friends.
