California pop-punk rockers The Dares originally formed in Burlington, Vermont when founding members (and twin brothers) Ben Petterson and Matt Petterson were just eight years old. The boys eventually moved to Whittier, Calif. in 2003, where they met their third member and classmate Martin Lascano, and have been making music together ever since.

In 2004, this high-energy trio won the Long Beach battle of the bands contest, beating 10 other contenders for the title. They went into the studio to record some demos, and eventually were booked to play major L.A. venues such as the Whiskey, House of Blues, the Key Club and the Viper Room. "We were just three best friends doing the music that we love to do, no labeling of music, no boundaries, just fun," Martin says.

The Dares have since toured with the likes of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Cartel and The Almost, and are prepping for the release of their debut album on Jive. The band recently recorded a song called 'It's Your World' for the video game Free Realms, and now you can watch the video for it right here. "We waited forever just to make it to this point," Matt says. "And now that we're here, it's like all that energy we've had bottled up is ready to come out. We're ready to play -- we're ready to be everywhere."
