His character is super pro-environment in the movie's trailer so we asked him if he feels the same way (he does), but turns out his character's motives are not what they appear to be.
"Yeah, the trailer is a little deceiving," Matt told us on the phone when we caught up with him recently. "Tyler is actually kind of going along with the whole environmental process for a girl actually. He could really care less and he kind of wants to live his life and not listen to his dad."
But an eco-conscious girl at school changes his mind.
"Amber, reveals what my dad is really doing," he continues. "Then Tyler kind of decides this actually isn't right that I do need to stand up and I need to speak my voice. So that's Tyler's view on the whole going green thing. He's down for it because it impresses Amber."
In real life, Matt's dating Sarah Hyland, 19, from TV's 'Modern Family.' Sarah once played the daughter of Brooke Shield's character on a show called 'Lipstick Jungle' and now Matt plays Brooke's son in 'Furry Vengeance'... making them on-screen siblings. Luckily, all three of them met up in Boston during filming to sort out the awkwardness.
"Brooke freaked out. She was like, 'No this isn't right, my kids can't be dating each other, this is wrong, something is not right here!' - it was really funny. Then me, Sarah, and Brooke all went out to dinner that night and it was a fun little reunion for them because they hadn't seen each other since 'Lipstick Jungle' because of just separation and Sarah moved out to L.A. So yeah it was a reunion moment for everyone and a little creepy for Brooke."
