How many times have you heard someone tell you that you can't take things for granted? How often have you heard someone tell you to be thankful for what you have because people in other countries are less fortunate than you. At that given time, you probably can't even imagine someone having a worst life than you but the sad fact is, is that what they are saying is true.
This Teen Ink article is by a teen from Forest Lake, MN who focuses on poverty issues in other countries and talks about how we need to put ourselves in others shoes in order to see how they live and to be able accept what we are given. Americans are spoiled. It's a fact. Today, teens have everything we want (except that perfect date for the prom). We don't even stop to think that many aren't so fortunate. And, if we do, we assume that someone is helping them and their problems will be solved soon enough. Anyway, what can one kid do? I'm going to tell you about a problem that millions of people face every day. It's up to you to do the rest.
