Record-setting sailor Jessica Watson will soon be able to sleep in her own bed again after sailing around the world – alone!

JSYK first told you about Jessica back in October after she had just set sail from Sydney Harbour aboard her bright pink yacht named Ella's Pink Lady. The Australian 16-year-old was ambitiously striving to become the youngest person to ever sail around the world alone. And today's she's right on track to achieve that goal. The previous record holder was 18, so Jessica -- who turns 17 on May 18 -- has plenty of time to spare. She's due to finally set foot on land -- and eat chocolate again -- in Sydney, Australia on May 2 weather permitting.

Besides being only weeks away from breaking the record, Jessica just reached another cool milestone - hitting the 20,000 mark for nautical miles she sailed on her own.

"It's amazing to think we have sailed over 20,000 miles because it really does feel just like yesterday that we left Sydney," Jessica says. (She says "we" referring to her and her boat!). "Twenty thousand is also double the total miles I'd sailed before the voyage which is also pretty cool. It's another great milestone to pass."
