Fashionistas came out in full force to attend the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute's "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity" event. Stars gave their best effort to land on style critics' Best Dressed list, but who deserves a coveted spot more: Kristen Stewart or Emma Watson?

Going with her usual punk rock-meets-mystery vibe, Kristen donned a black Chanel Haute Couture taffeta gown, Chanel Fine Jewelry and Sergio Rossi pumps. A lot of critics shunned the sheer attachment to her mini as a fashion mistake, but at least she took a risk that didn't turn out to be that bad.

Emma's fashion choices usually leave us completely floored...in a good way. She looked beautiful as always at the Met, but she walked a bit close to the boring side. C'mon, Katy Perry wore a glow in the dark dress to this event! Emma's look was head-to-toe Burberry (she did land a deal with them, after all). The one-shoulder feminine frock is simple yet classy with ruffles, but overall she's more sweet than stunning. This dress pales in comparison to her most fab look so far: The vintage Ozzi Clark gown she chose for the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Even with the wardrobe malfunction - that was a shining fashion moment!
