This sounds like something straight out of the movies.

Guerdwich Montimere was arrested and released on a $500 bond this week. The crime? The 22-year-old basketball player posed as Jerry Joseph, a 16-year-old Haitian immigrant and sophomore at Permian, the school whose football tradition inspired the TV show Friday Night Lights.

Guerdwich gave the school a Haitian birth certificate last spring that said his birthday was January 1, 1994. His true identity was revealed after he was recognized at a tournament by former coaches -- Guerdwich had already helped a school in Florida reach the state semifinals in 2007.

"There was some sort of documentation from his time in Florida. They had a fingerprint from something of his in Florida that we were able to match to our Jerry Joseph," explains Ector County Independent School District spokesman Mike Adkins.
The team will now forfeit their 16 wins from last year and Guerdwich could be sentenced to 180 days in jail or a $2,000 fine.
