Justin Bieber loves basketball and sports, but according to celebrity trainer Danny Musico, the 16-year-old pop singer is interested in stepping up his game and working on his fitness by building more muscle. If he succeeds in changing his body, he could end up with the same physique as Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire, the trainer tells JSYK in our exclusive interview.
Although the super busy Canadian star hasn't had the the time to hit the gym just yet, he is in talks with Danny to start a workout regimen soon.
"Justin's body reminds me of when Tobey Maguire was very lean," says Danny, who has trained the likes of Jessica Simpson and Leonardo DiCaprio. "I would like to try to use Tobey almost as what I would like to bring Justin into in the early stages right now – lean muscle mass, very fit, good strong legs, good strong arms, good strong chest. It's slow development. It's not going to happen overnight; we'll take baby steps."
But Danny can't offer any more details than that. "I honestly can't answer too much of where I think he's going to be at, because I have physically not spent time with him in the gym to assess him," he admits. "Any smart trainer can't make those quotes because I don't know what his physical fitness is or what his limitations are."
Some say might say that Justin is too young to start a major workout plan, but according to the L.A.-based trainer, this is the prime time for JB to start working out. "It's a myth that 'Oh, he's only 16 years old, his body is still developing.' That's exactly the reason why you want to be in the gym at 16 years old -- to build muscle memory form into lean muscle mass."
As for Justin's current workout routine, Danny says the teen sensation isn't doing anything beyond playing casual sports, and if he wants to build muscle mass and keep his fitness up, it's going to take plenty of planning and commitment. "It's gotta become a lifestyle for him," he adds. "It's got to become a priority everyday along with his career or it will never get done." %Poll-46827%
