Kissing in Public Means A Trip to Jail for Some Teens

Not a fan of PDA? Neither are officials in Sri Lanka.

Nearly 200 teen couples have already been detained by police for kissing, cuddling, or holding hands in public. Yikes.

Police spokesman Prashantha Jayakody states, "We have taken them into custody for indecent behavior at a public place." Formal charges generally aren't pursued and Prashantha says, "Usually we free them after informing their parents."

Many people who live in rural parts of the country are offended by such public actions of intimacy. But even in the more modernized capital city of Colombo, cops will take into custody "umbrella lovers" -- those young couples who share one umbrella to get some relief from the scorching temperatures.
What do you think about this? Is it right to call a parent when a teen is caught kissing? Should these students just respect the laws of their country and not kiss or hold hands in public?
