"It's a June afternoon -- this beach would be littered with families, kids playing, dads on the pier with their buddies fishing. None of that's here," Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder recounts about the devastation caused along the Gulf Coast by the BP oil spill.

"The things you remember, the times you spent with your parents or your grandparents, brothers, sisters, fishing and learning about the ecology here is...it's your base, it's your root and you'll do anything, you will fight tooth and nail to protect it."

And that's exactly what he's doing tonight.

Ian, a Louisiana native, will be joined by many other celebs -- including Justin Bieber -- in Larry King's "Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help." The telethon will air on CNN at 8PM EST tonight and donations will be distributed to a variety of charities.
The powers at Fox are showing their support for the Gulf Coast also. They've allowed Glee's version of "Over the Rainbow" to be used in a video that supports using clean energy. Check it out.
