'Eclipse' Earns $261.2 Million Worldwide in Just Five Days
Eclipse was already on its way to the No. 1 spot at the box office when it took in $68.5 million in the U.S. on its opening day. By the end of the Fourth of July holiday, the movie had earned approximately $161 million domestically. Tack on the $100.2 million from overseas showings and Eclipse is looking at a serious pay day.
The movie only cost $68 million to make, so Summit has already made a cool profit of $193.2 million. However, vampires and werewolves weren't enough to break the six-day July 4th record held by Spider-Man 2. Eclipse was able to make it to $175 million as of Monday, but Spidey earned $180 million after six days in 2004.
Did you see the movie in its first week? How many times? With these kinds of numbers, we wouldn't be surprised if Twi-hards went more than once over the holiday weekend. What did you think of the film? Let us know in the comments below. %Poll-49106%
