Future Harvard Business School graduate? Anyone? Anyone? We're betting this teen is destined for dealmaking greatness. Just listen to how he took a used cell phone and schmoozed his way into owning a Porsche.
Steven Ortiz posted an ad on Craigslist to trade a used cell phone two years ago when he was 15. He planned to swap the out-of-date cell for something cooler...and 14 trades later, he's now the owner of a 2000 Porsche Boxster S.
"I get so many people who say, `Can you trade my phone for a car?' I just say, `Yeah. It's not that easy."'
The now 17-year-old from Glendora, CA scored a MacBook Pro, 1987 Toyota 4Runner, and dirt bike along the way. He swapped a 1975 Ford Bronco in exchange for his latest sweet wheels. So what's the secret to Steven's swapping success?
"Anybody can do this as long as they put their mind to it. That's all it is -- your mind and your patience. You can't give up," he advises.
Even though it's impressive to say you got a Porsche in exchange for a cell phone, Steven's not planning to hang on to the luxury car for long. "At 17, paying $1,200 for a tune up on a Porsche -- I can do a lot with $1,200," he says.
