Selena Gomez's New Album Features Background Vocals From Katy Perry

Was Selena Gomez's birthday wish to have a hugely successful recording artist sprinkle some pop star magic on her upcoming second album, due this September?

The now 18-year-old spills, "Katy Perry gave me a song, and she did background vocals on it. The whole experience was really fun."

Does this mean that Selena and Katy are headed for besties status?

Katy is tight with Selena's BFF Taylor Swift, but it doesn't look like they're forming a girl power trio any time soon. We checked Twitter for a birthday message from K to S, but --nopers -- couldn't find any. Maybe next year. Meanwhile, Sel didn't reveal the name of the song she and the "California Gurls" singer collaborated on, but she did dish, "The title so far of my album --I mean, I'm hoping it will stick -- is 'A Year Without Rain.' It's basically one of my favorite songs on the record. It's kind of got a more feel-good dance beat and feel. I love it. It's different."
So, the million dollar question is... will Katy be a good influence on Selena's album?
