What's Going On With American Idol?

So there have been some intense things happening to American Idol recently. Ellen is out, Kara might be getting the ax, and Jessica Simpson might be returning to reality TV once again.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Jessica's already had multiple meetings with hotshots at American Idol to replace Simon Cowell on the judge's panel next season.

"I'm not sure whether her people approached Idol, or if it was the other way around," their source claims.

There are still "dozens" of people on the consideration list, but Justin Timberlake definitely isn't signing on for the gig. Same goes for JT appearing on Glee. The show's creator Ryan Murphy spills,

"If we did do something like that, I think it would probably be down the line. But I think he would be the younger brother of Matt Morrison."

We can see that family resemblance, but back to American Idol...how do you feel about Jessica becoming a judge? Personally, we don't think swapping Simon's snarky 'tude with ditsy moments will go over well.

But have you heard that Ellen DeGeneres has quit the show?
"It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on 'Idol' and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be," she said.

We're so bummed! There's also rumors that Kara DioGuardi will be quitting or getting the ax too!

So if Jessica Simpson is in the running, they'll need to fill two more spots! Who would you like to see as the new American Idol judges?
