Hours before the Teen Choice Awards
yesterday, Keke Palmer couldn't decide
between two silver, sparkling mini-dresses. She tweeted for help choosing, and in the end opted for the metallic threads with a one-shoulder strap. That was our pick too, Keke.
It's not surprising that we spotted a few shiny stunners on last night's red carpet. Nina Dobrev
even strategically chose her flashy style. She tweeted, "Hope you all like my dress. Decided to shine - hopefully it will attract attention and it will help me win! Fingers crossed! Wish me luck."
Other big trends of the night include guys in plaid shirts (Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Mark Salling,
and Kevin McHale
to name a few) and girls wearing minis in various shades of green -- although some pulled off the look much better than others.
took a fashion risk by wearing a body-hugging dress with a palm leaves print. This could have been a potential design disaster, but she kept her accessories minimal to nail the look. Emma Roberts,
on the other hand, chose a pea green dress that was all wrong for her skin tone. Then, her dark eye makeup and dark fingernails reminded us of a vampire. Was she plotting to score a role in Breaking Dawn?
We're giving the award for Best Little Black Dress of the night to Lucy Hale
for her mosaic print inspired piece. Megan Fox
wins for Best Sweet and Chic Style. Her structured bubble skirt brought in the metallic trend, and her blue glam shirt added a fun, playful vibe to her whole look.
We're torn on The Vampire Diaries' Katerina Graham's
choices. The colored gems on her long-sleeve black dress were too big and her thigh-high black boots were too much (it's summer time, after all!), but we really enjoyed her vibrant makeup. Katerina's bubblegum pink lips complemented the tiny multi-color jewels that she glued to the corner of her eyes. A new way to sparkle on the red carpet? We like.
So, who do we most wish looked in the mirror one more time before leaving the house? Glee's Naya Rivera
(she was way too overdressed for the night) and Modern Family's Sarah Hyland,
who could have pulled off her look better if she ditched her short black skirt paired with a long flowing sleeveless tunic for a simple scoop neck dress. Agree with us?
