Following in the footsteps of Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber has become the new face of Proactiv's new teen skin care line. But when we first heard the news, we wondered why the Bieb was chosen to be the acne treatment's spokesperson when we've never even seen a zit on the 16-year-old phenom.
But then we watched JB's video and realized that he's been tapped to rep the skin care regimen as a way to prevent bad acne from happening.
"There are some things that just come with being a teenager," he says in the commercial. "Your feet grow like crazy -- I can't stop that; the hormones kick in -- I don't want to stop that; and then there's zits -- I can stop that." Smooth, Biebs.
The script of the commercial/promo video is kind of awkward, especially when Justin says: "There's no way I'm going to let a bunch of zits get in my way." But we get it -- Proactiv wants us to know its product isn't just for chronic acne. Justin is one of the most popular teen celebs right now, so we understand why he was chosen to spread the message of the campaign, but we think it would be more realistic if the video showed before and after shots (like Katy), letting us know that Justin, though seemingly perfect, is susceptible to blemishes, too.
At the very least, we get to see Justin hanging out behind-the-scenes of his Proactiv shoot and acting like he normally does off stage. Watch the video below and let us know what you think. Should Proactiv have asked someone else to do the campaign? Or are you totally interested in the skin care line now that you know Justin backs it?
