August is a scary month for teens to be on the road. Car accidents are the number one killer of teens, and in 2008, the highest number of teen deaths caused by crashes happened during this month.

Celebs are witnessing accidents firsthand this summer and tweeting messages encouraging you to buckle up.

Glee's
Lea Michele said, "Saw a very intense car accident today, everyone was alright, thanks to seat belts. Please remember to always wear them:) Thanks friends."

Take Lea's word to heart. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, teen drivers and their passengers rate among the lowest group likely to wear seat belts.

Make It or Break It's Josie Loren had a personal experience recently with just how important buckling up can be. She tweeted, "Got in a car accident and totaled my car this morning." Later Josie showed her appreciation for her followers' concern by saying, "Thank u all 4 the love! Thankfully, I'm fine. But honestly, I wouldn't be if I hadn't been wearing my seat belt, so buckle up! Saved me today."
Car crashes take the lives of 11 teens each day. Be smart this summer and always wear a seat belt and never, ever text or talk on the phone while driving.
