On Monday, Lady Gaga edged out Britney Spears for the highest number of Twitter followers, but if Justin Bieber continues to gain fans like he is, the 16-year-old singer could potentially take the crown away from Gaga in just a few months.
As of August 23, Gaga topped 5,749,000 followers while Britney hovered at 5,706,000. The pop star, who has been tweeting photos from the set of her upcoming Glee episode, held the No. 1 celebrity Twitter spot for the last three months after exceeding Ashton Kutcher's lead.
But according to Internet research company Famecount.com, Justin has the fastest growing account on the site. He's currently holding the No. 6 celebrity/public figure spot with over 4,706,000 followers, and adding almost 800,000 new followers a month. At that rate, he could surpass Gaga and her steadily growing followers by February.
On Facebook, Gaga is dominating the social network with over 16 million fans, but Justin is chilling with a cool 10 million. However, after an unofficial fan battle, the Canadian heartthrob's smash single 'Baby' is currently beating Gaga's 'Bad Romance' as YouTube's most-played video with over 298 million views.
Right now, Gaga is ruling two of the most popular social sites out there, but Justin is right on her heels. Who do you back as the most No. 1 celeb on Twitter? Take our poll and share your comments below. %Poll-51637%
