'Glee' Red Carpet Emmy Night Trend: Strapless Blue Gowns
Glee didn't take home the majority of the Emmys they were nominated for last night. So what? At least they looked really good losing.
Our fave trend spotted on the red carpet was blue, strapless, glamorous gowns. Lea Michele, Jayma Mays, and Naya Rivera each wore variations of this style, but Lea -- who also turned 24 yesterday -- stole the show in her navy Oscar de la Renta gown with a ruffled train and gleaming Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Best birthday suit ever.
And does Jane Lynch clean up well or what? Sue Sylvester left her tracksuit at home and Jane radiated in a one-shoulder deep purple Ali Rahimi dress. Another Gleek who also opted for a one-shoulder gown but added metallic was Nina Dobrev. Okay, she's not a full-fledged member of New Directions -- just an honorary one -- but the girl did her Zuhair Murad gown justice.
Now our ultimate chic Gleek winner of the night was...drum roll please...
Amber Riley! Only one word can describe her Grecian Melissa Masse gown and Chopard jewels: Stunning. She perfectly mixed classic Marilyn Monroe-inspired elegance while still looking modern and young. Amber tweeted that she felt "like a queen" and we agree that she was glowing from head to toe. Job very well done, Amber!
Another standout for us was Dianna Agron. Although her floral and lace Carolina Herrera was a little less old Hollywood than Amber's and a little more Bo Peep, we still give her credit for looking lovely. We hate to bash on anyone from McKiney, but when there are fashion highs, sometimes there are fashion lows. Last night's biggest sartorial blunder was definitely Naya. She was on trend with the blue strapless gown, but the ultra-high slit and the bridesmaid-y teal shade just didn't do it for us. Not to mention that her hair do was definitely a don't.
