Apple Unveils Three New iPods and an iTunes Social Network
Apple made another big announcement today, introducing three new iPods for the masses and an iTunes social network called Ping. There are a ton of new features on the iPods, which may even make you forget about wanting an iPhone 4.
The iPod Touch is thinner and lighter than ever, and while it still plays all of your favorite music, it also can make FaceTime video calls and record HD video. As long as you have Wi-Fi, you can video chat with your friends just like on the iPhone 4. The device also has that sweet Retina display and Game Center, where you can challenge your friends and show all your scores and stats.
The iPod Nano has Multi-Touch, is newly redesigned and is smaller and lighter than the last generation. It's got a built-in FM radio and also has a built-in clip so you can wear it on the go. The new iPod Shuffle has clickable "ring" buttons VoiceOver technology, which allows users to go through their playlists without having to look at the device. Sweet! It also comes in fun colors like silver, blue, green, orange and pink, and even supports Genius playlists (finally).
Oh but that's not all. Apple also announced an iTunes update that will include Ping, a new social network for music. If you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone, you can follow your friends to find out what they're listening to and follow your favorite artists to see photos, videos, tour dates and more. Apple CEO Steve Jobs describes Ping as "Facebook and Twitter meet iTunes."
The iPod Touch starts at $229, the Nano starts at $149 and the Shuffle is priced at $49. All of them will be available beginning next week, and those who are into Ping can download the iTunes update now. What do you think of the new generation of iPods? Do you think you'll use Ping or are you good on the social networking front? %Poll-52209%
