If you're into video games and sports, you probably own several editions of EA's super popular 'Madden' football series. Well, now the gaming company has teamed up with Facebook to offer 'Madden NFL Superstars' as a free app on the social networking site. Yep, we said free.

Users can create fantasy teams with over 1,500 NFL players, who are actually on this year's team rosters. Then gamers can play in three modes -- Season, NFL Pro League and Scrimmage -- which allow them to pit their own fantasy teams against the real-life season or play with millions of other Facebook users.

None of this costs money, but those who want to upgrade to better players and/or game content will need to pay small fees. Still, EA and Facebook say most users will be able to play without having to shell out any cash. Score.
'Madden NFL Superstars' follows in the footsteps of EA's 'FIFA Superstars,' a soccer game which is also available on Facebook and boasts about 4 million online players. The new Madden game launched on Tuesday, just one week before the September 9 start of the 2010-2011 NFL season, which Taylor Swift will help kick off.

Although the 'Madden' series sells five to six million units per year, EA Sports President Peter Moore said in a press release that the game can be difficult to play on the console. However, with the social networking site, the company can make the game more accessible and reach a broader audience.

Are you ready for some football? Play 'Madden NFL Superstars' on Facebook here. What do you think? Are you into the idea of playing 'Madden' online or would you rather play it on your console? %Poll-52307%
