Everyone is waiting to see the big Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
kissing scene between Hermione and Ron, but while talking about it in a recent interview, Emma Watson
inadvertently dissed another beloved series, Twilight
"This kiss between Hermione and Ron is highly anticipated, it's been building up for eight films now. And Harry Potter is not Twilight, you know; we're not selling sex," she told Empire magazine. "So, whenever there is any hint of that, everybody gets terribly excited. In fact, it was horribly awkward; we couldn't stop laughing."
While we don't want to ignore how weird it was for Emma to be kissing her pal Rupert Grint
on camera, her comment about the vampire series has raised some eyebrows. Although Twilight doesn't focus on the same themes as Harry Potter
, and definitely confronts the topic in Eclipse
and Breaking Dawn
, saying that it's "selling sex" seems like an overstatement.
Of course, Emma's words could have been taken out of context, but the quote definitely makes us wonder how the 20-year-old really feels about Stephenie Meyer's
series. Do you think Emma meant to slight Twilight or was she just making trying to make a simple comparison?
