Edward Bosson has earned his place in the Guinness Book of World Records. The 17-year-old successfully crossed the 21-miles of water between England and France known as the English Channel on his wakeboard, making him the only person ever to do so.
Edward wasn't just on a mission to secure a spot in history, though. His achievement also benefited the Hope and Homes for Children charity.
"I thought it would be a very good thing to do. It was a challenge, and I got to raise money for charity," the British teen says. "When we got about a mile off shore it became quite rough and choppy and I fell off about 14 times. Every time you fall off it makes it harder as you become tired."
Despite the physical strain, Edward confesses, "I had no break thoughts. If I had, I don't think I would have been able to do it. I am really happy."
What challenge is next for Edward? He hopes to study natural sciences at the prestigious Cambridge University.
