In honor of today's DVD release of Glee: The Complete First Season Glee Edition (and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City), we're spotlighting Rachel Berry's new signature statement -- the polka dot dress. Move aside knee socks and argyle, this preppy piece helps the New Directions star ditch her stiff, uptight vibes for a young and fun look. We know -- we just referred to Rachel as "fun."
But seriously, Lea Michele is rocking the dots this season. We found three, yes, three, instances where she dons a polka dot dress.
In the first episode of Glee's second season, Rachel is dancing with Finn in a navy polka dot number with cap sleeves (right). Points for pulling her hair up to show off the dress' cowl back. Meanwhile, in a new photo released from Fox (left), Rachel's standing in front of some very red lockers wearing a sweetheart neckline blue polka dot dress with white straps and a blue and white bow cinching her waist. This one is our fave by far.
Finally, Lea tweeted a pic of her and Cory Monteith hanging out on set (above). She's smiling so widely in the photo, because she knows how cute her spaghetti strap polka dot dress is. You can't see them, but she's wearing Rachel's old fave -- white knee socks. We're that good.
Is Glee's costume designer in a rut? We highly doubt it. Check out this exclusive interview with Lou Eyrich, a.k.a. personal shopper to all the Glee stars, all about how she shopped for Lea in season one including all those pesky socks.
"Rachel... little bit of 'nerd,' but fun' and 'colorful' mixing plaids and stripes and funny knee highs," she says. "She has about four hangers full of socks from white anklets to colored argyle knee highs to over-the-knee socks to multi-colored tights."
This video is part of the amazing-ness that is the bonus features on the Gleek Edition of season one - available everywhere September 14.
