Angry Birds, the most popular app out there, is taking over Hollywood in more ways than one. Not only are stars like Cory Monteith and Pete Wentz completely obsessed with it, but a movie version of the popular game may be coming your way soon, too.
"Angry birds is taking over my life," Cory admitted in a tweet over the summer -- and the Glee star isn't alone.
"I'm gonna make an "angry birds" anthem for all the uk peeps. o.g. angry birds," Pete Wentz tweeted after beating the game last month. Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon have featured the game in their skits and promos, and pro skater Tony Hawk is reportedly a fan, too.
Since it debuted in December 2009, over 6.5 million copies of the paid app have been downloaded, and the free Lite version has been downloaded over 11 million times in over 60 countries. Just recently, Angry Birds was released for Android phones, opening itself to a brand-new group of customers.
But Rovio, the maker of the game, wants to take it to a whole new level. According to Variety, the developers want to turn Angry Birds into a multi-platform brand, complete with movies, TV shows, toys and comic books.
We've played the physics-based game and agree that it's super addictive. What about you? Have you tried it? Do you think it's worth all the hype?
