Emma Stone Is Cast as Gwen Stacy in the New 'Spider-Man' Flick
Emma Stone has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, and will star opposite The Social Network's Andrew Garfield, who will play Peter Parker. With rave reviews for Easy A, a ton of new projects in store and a Saturday Night Live hosting gig coming up, we think Emma is poised to be Hollywood's next big thing.
Emma will play Peter's first love, Gwen Stacy, who the superhero meets while attending Empire State University. Spider-Man die-hards will recall that Gwen made an appearance in Spider-Man 3 and was played by Eclipse star Bryce Dallas Howard, but the new movie is a reboot, which means it will wipe the slate clean and start fresh.
Production on the forthcoming Spider-Man flick is set to begin in December, and if it's as big as the other Spidey blockbusters, we could see Emma's career soar to new heights. But if things don't go as planned for the action movie, Emma still has six (yes, six!) other movies on deck, which could push her further into the spotlight.
Emma will also be able to show audiences just how well-rounded she is when she hosts SNL on October 23. If her skits are anything like her performance in Easy A, we're sure she'll totally kill it. What do you think? Is Emma the new 'it' girl?%Poll-53837%
