Last night Stephenie Meyer posted a major update about Breaking Dawn on The Twilight Saga's Facebook page.
"Congratulations to the Twilight Facebook Fan Page! 15 million fans! You guys never cease to amaze me," she wrote before getting to the bombshell.
"In other news...Very excited about our new Renesmee, Mackenzie Foy. She's an amazing young actress and I'm excited to work with her. I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer!"
Judging by the comments on a story reporting that Mackenzie was just rumored to be up for the role, you're pretty stoked.
"Awwwww. That little girl is sooo cute! She is going 2 be very pretty when she is older. She looks like a doll! but not like a minature adult, very pretty and cute! I love her already. lol," a JSYK reader said.
Another wrote, "This little girl would be perfect for Renesmee. I have been freaking out about who will play her, and well she is perfect!!!!"
The only negative comment about Mackenzie scoring the role touched on her age.
"Mackenzie Foy is cute, but I think Renesmee should be younger," JSYK reader Shan posted. "Yeah, she grows fast, but a nine-year old?"
Valid point since Renesmee ages at rapid speed both in Bella's womb and once she's born. In Breaking Dawn, Bella grows seriously concerned about what will happen to her daughter -- who's half human -- if she continues at that rate. However, Renesmee doesn't grow as old as Mackenzie in the book.
Then again Robert Pattinson is 24 playing an eternal 17-year-old. Should Breaking Dawn have cast Renesmee younger?
