300 Girls Hit Up NYC For The Second Annual Tween Summit
The 2010 Allykattz Tween Summit took place October 10 at New York City's Altman Building - we were lucky enough to be there for the fun as sponsors along with Cambio.
The second-annual event brings tween girls from all over together to have fun and talk about ways they can take steps towards changing the world. Yesterday's program included a lineup of motivational speakers and an activity called DM'ing where the girls wrote inspirational messages for other teens on denim jeans that were later donated to charity.
"It's fun," says Asher, an 11-year-old from New York. "I went last year also. It's a lot of fun."
Olympic Soccer Gold Medalist, Heather O'reilly, one of the speakers, said, "This event is super cool, I only wish it was around when I was your age. I have one request. Everybody put your guards down today, right? We're here to learn, we're here to grow, we're here to expand your thoughts about yourself and different things around the world and I think we're going to have a really cool day to day. It's not just about learning from us, we're here to learn from you as well."
All-girl band Sick of Sarah performed a few songs, 'High School Musical' alum Monique Coleman and Disney's Tiffany Thornton stopped by to talk to the tweens about their own experiences as tweens and later, along with Mitchel Musso, Kicking Daisies and Fefe Dobson, put on an awesome concert to wrap up the night.
