Earlier today, we premiered Mayday Parade's cover of Jason Derulo's smash hit 'In My Head,' but it looks like another music star is taking a swing at the single, too. Selena Gomez recently performed her version of the song live at iheartradio, and now we're pitting the two artists against each other for the ultimate cover battle.
Although Selena just released her new album, 'A Year Without Rain,' she still likes to mix things up a bit in her live set, which is why she chose to cover the song for her in-studio appearance.
"I love covering songs," she says. "Whenever I tour, I cover like five songs and people are always like, 'That's a lot of songs.' It's cause i don't always want it to be about me, [or] my music. I love music in general, so I love being able to cover people that I love."
For Mayday Parade, re-arranging Jason Derulo's song was "a blast," but in the end, it was all in the name of fun. Well, at least that's what guitarist Brooks Betts told us. The Tallahassee rockers' version of 'In My Head' will be featured on the upcoming 'Punk Goes Pop 3' compilation, their fourth contribution to the series.
Both artists extract the rock vibe of from the original, but Selena puts a pop twist on her version, while Mayday Parade keeps things amplified. Check out the two covers below and cast your vote on which one you think is best.
