Taylor Swift Covers Coldplay, Sings a Song That's Not About Boys
Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' songs have really been put under the microscope lately. Beyond her Kanye West-inspired song 'Innocent,' people have been speculating that her track 'Dear John' is about John Mayer, and 'Back to December' was written for her ex Taylor Lautner. But on her recent trip to the England, the 20-year-old decided to distract from all that by performing a cover of Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' -- and it worked.
'Speak Now' is just days away from being released, and Tay is out and about promoting her new album. She appeared on BBC Radio 2's 'Great British Songbook' to sing an acoustic version of 'Mine' and cover the UK pop group's smash single.
If you're a fan of Coldplay, you know that 'Viva La Vida' has tons of dramatic strings and percussion, making the song sound bigger than life. Taylor, however, puts a mellow spin on the epic track, slowing things down and breathing new life into the lyrics with her sweet and delicate vocals.
The bottom line is: we love it! Taylor covered the song so well, it's no wonder why she's being tapped to guest star on Glee. Check out Tay's homage to Coldplay and her slowed down version of 'Mine' below. 'Speak Now' will be available in stores and on iTunes on October 25.
