Is Taylor Swift Going Too Far Dissing People in Her Songs?

Last week we asked if you thought Taylor Swift was making her lyrics on her 'Speak Now' album too obvious. "Dear John" seems to be an apparent jab about John Mayer, and "Back to December" practically screams Taylor Lautner.

Almost 65 percent of you said Taylor was just being honest and should stick with her open songwriting style. JSYK reader JessicaR750 commented, "I think Taylor is just trying to get to the point with her lyrics. I like her because her songs are easy to memorize and understand and relate to because she's so obvious about it. It makes the meaning clearer."

Well she's making it pretty clear in "Better than Revenge" that she's taking a lyrical punch at Joe Jonas' ex Camilla Belle, the girl who Joe supposedly dumped Taylor to date instead.
"The story starts when it was hot and it was summer / And, I had it all; I had him right there where I wanted him / She came along, got him along, and let's hear the applause / She took him faster than you can say sabotage."

That's not so bad given Joe and Taylor's ongoing song war. Taylor's supposed inspiration behind the breakup song "Forever and Always" was Joe, and then Joe wrote "Much Better" in response -- basically telling Taylor he made the right decision by choosing Camilla. Joe sang, "Get a rep for breakin' hearts / Now I'm done with super stars / And all the tears on her guitar / I'm not bitter / Now I see / Everything I'd ever need / Is the girl in front of me / She's much better."

We understand why that song probably stirred up a ton of emotions in Taylor, but is she crossing the lyrical line in "Better than Revenge?" Listen to what else she supposedly writes about Belle: "She's an actress, whoa / She's better known for the things that she does on the mattress, whoa."

Um, now is Taylor going too far? She did write a song on Speak Now called "Mean" about someone who wouldn't quit criticizing and bullying her. Is Taylor turning into a hypocrite by penning such harsh words? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

Check out Taylor's ad for Target where she says, "For me, Speak Now is the next chapter in my story, and I'm naming names."

"Better than Revenge" lyrics:

Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did
Ha, Time for a little revenge
Verse:
The story starts when it was hot and it was summer
And, I had it all; I had him right there where I wanted him
She came along, got him along, and let's hear the applause
She took him faster than you can say sabotage
I never saw it coming, nor did I suspected it
I underestimated just who I was dealing with
She had to know the pain was beating on me like a drum
She underestimated just who she was stealing from

[Chorus]
She's not a saint and she's not what you think
She's an actress, Whoa
She's better known for the things that she does
On the mattress, Whoa
Soon she's gonna find
Stealing other people's toys on the playground
Won't make you many friends
She should keep in mind,
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge, Ha

[Verse]
She lives her life like it's a party and she's on the list
She looks at me like I'm a trend and she's so over it
I think her ever present frown is a little troubling
And, she thinks I'm psycho
Cause I like to rhyme her name with things, but
Sophistication isn't what you wear, or who you know
Or pushing people down to get you where you wanna go
Oh they didn't teach you that in prep school
So it's up to me
But no amount of vintage dresses gives you dignity

[Chorus]
She's not a saint and she's not what you think
She's an actress, Whoa
She's better known for the things that she does
On the mattress, Whoa
Soon she's gonna find
Stealing other people's toys on the playground
Won't make you many friends
She should keep in mind,
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge, Ha ha

[Bridge]
I'm just another thing for you to roll your eyes at honey
You might have him, but haven't you heard
I'm just another thing for you to roll your eyes at honey
You might have him, but I always get the last word
Whoa

[Chorus]
She's not a saint and she's not what you think
She's an actress, Whoa
She's better known for the things that she does
On the mattress, Whoa
Soon she's gonna find
Stealing other people's toys on the playground
Won't make you many friends
She should keep in mind,
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge,

And do you still feel like you know what you're doing,
Cause I don't think you do, Oh
Do you still feel like you know what you're doing
I don't think you do, I don't think you do
Let's hear the applause
C'mon show me how much better you are
See you deserve some applause
Cause you're so much better
She took him faster than you can say sabotage
