Katy Perry has outdone herself with her new video 'Firework.' The third single from her latest album, 'Teenage Dream,' encourages listeners to rise above their fears and show the world what makes them unique, and after watching the video for it, we were left with a big ol' lump in our throats.
Katy starts out on a terrace, singing out into the night sky. The camera shows several different teens in tough situations. For example: one is sitting with his little sister, shielding her from his fighting parents; another is sitting in a hospital, recovering from chemotherapy; and another girl sits on the sidelines as everyone is skinny-dipping in a pool.
Sparks start to fly from the pop star's heart while she sings the pre-chorus: "Do you know that there's still a chance for you / Cause there's a spark in you / You just gotta ignite the light / And let it shine / Just own the night / Like the Fourth of July."
Then, as Katy moves into the chorus of the song, you see fireworks coming from the hearts of all the troubled teens. They're suddenly able to face their fears, stand up for themselves and take ownership of who they are. Does anyone have a tissue?
