Kentucky teen Alexandria Mills has a lot to beam about. The 18-year-old just represented the United States in the Miss World 2010 competition, and she defeated 115 other contestants to bring home the crown.

"It's a cliché but this is really a dream come true," Alexandria gushed. "I can't believe it's happening to me. My time has come. I'm loving it!"
The recent high school grad talked about her future plans saying, "I intend to travel the world and pursue a career in landscape and architectural photography. Study at college for a degree in photography."

College is pricey, but pageants are a great way to earn scholarship money. On the Miss America Facebook page, it states, "The Miss America Scholarship program, along with its local and state affiliates, is the largest provider of scholarship money to young women in the world, and in 2006 made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance."

What are your opinions on competitions like Miss World and Miss America? Have you ever participated in a pageant? Would you to score a sweet scholarship?%Poll-55102%
