Celebrate Your Inner Beauty by Going Makeup Free Every Monday
To remind girls everywhere about the importance of their inner-beauty, The Beauty Bean is promoting "Makeup Free Mondays," a call to emphasize positive body image by ditching blush and eyeliner once a week.
The beauty Web site is also using "Makeup Free Mondays" to encourage females (and males, too!) to donate unopened makeup products to a local women's shelter, Dress for Success, or similar program.
"We all obviously have a deep love for our makeup and beauty goods," said TheBeautyBean.com founder Alexis Wolfer. "That being said, we ultimately value inner beauty and wellness considerably more than we do our smudge-free mascara. This Makeup Free Mondays movement is our way of letting women across the country express their support of these commitments in their own lives, in a tangible way while giving back to other women in their communities."
Body image expert Jessica Weiner stresses the importance of young girls having a positive body image by telling AOL, "I was teased a lot. I got picked on. I remember not being able to control what other girls were going to think about me, but I could control what I ate, how much I exercised, what my body looked like and I kind of channeled all of my aggression, anxiety and fear into my body image and my self-image. It can become a very dangerous cocktail for young girls. And for young guys -- we are seeing this issue affect boys as well."
Models including Brooklyn Decker have already gone "Makeup Free." Will you?
