Tavi Gevinson and Jane Pratt to Launch New Magazine
Tavi Gevinson has been trailblazing with her blog Style Rookie, and getting amazing opportunities like blogging for Rodarte and Target. Now the 14-year-old writer has teamed up with one of her idols, Jane Pratt, founding editor of the once-popular magazines Sassy and Jane.
"You guys may know how I feel about Sassy," Tavi wrote. "You also may know that I've been babbling about how I think our generation should get one, too. Jane Pratt, founding editor and then EIC of Sassy, also became aware, and emailed me, and we've met a couple times, and it looks like we're going to start a magazine for an audience of wallflowerly teenage girls.
(I am trying so hard to be cool and professional right now.)
(Trying. so. hard.)"
The magazine won't be another Sassy, Tavi says, however, the glossy will have a "for the people, by the people" vibe. To get that feeling, the teen is asking for you to be a part of it.
If you want to see your work in Tavi's new mag, all you have to do is email her at MagazineSubmissionsAreFun@gmail.com. Tell her as much as you want about yourself, and attach your writing sample, photos, artwork or "whatever you're good at and think would be at home in a feminist, creative, moody-teenage-girl magazine." But hurry, the deadline is November 19.
