On Friday, Myspace introduced the world to Mashup with Facebook, a new feature that allows Myspace users create personal streams based on their Facebook likes and interests. The idea is to allow you to program your own entertainment experience on the social networking site, but will you bother to connect?
According to the company's announcement, users can opt into the new feature by clicking the Connect with Facebook button from the homepage or logging in and clicking the Mashup with Facebook option. From there, you will log onto Facebook, and all of your likes will be connected to Myspace. You can then check or uncheck what you would like to be included on your profile.
Myspace topic pages, profiles, video programming and other content under music, celebrities, TV, and movies will be available to you through tailored recommendations. Like you, the first question that came to our minds was: 'Why should I link my profiles when I can just go to Facebook for everything I like?"
Well, with this new Myspace feature, you can have everything available front-and-center in your stream, and give you more access to other things you might like, too, based on your current interests. This is kind of accomplished with Facebook's News Feed, so it'll be interesting to see how popular the Mashup feature becomes.
We want to hear from you. Which of you still use Myspace on a regular basis and plan on connecting with Facebook? Do you like the Mashup concept or will you just go to Facebook to get updates on all the celebs, entertainment and media that you already like?
